Quality Manager


In support of our client, an international industrial manufacturer of original equipment automotive parts, ResourceTek is seeking a QUALITY MANAGER for a direct hire or contract-to-direct hire position located in Middle Tennessee and starting immediately.

The customer comes first; our client's systems and efforts are aligned to create value for them. This role has the responsibility and authority to ensure that customer requirements are addressed. This includes participating in selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives and related training, corrective and preventive actions, and participating in product design and development. The Quality Manager drives continuous improvement, in part by reducing both internal and external non-conformances. Monitors and strives to reduce the cost of quality and coordinates the TS16949 and Chinese Compulsory Certification (CCC) systems as management representative.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Develop, coordinate, and implement the planning and procedures for new product launches to meet customer timing, quality and product reliability requirements.
  2. Coordinate efforts to assist in identification of areas for cost and quality improvements of existing products to meet customer and plant requirements of continuous improvement.
  3. Responsible to both the customer and the company for outgoing product and documentation quality and accuracy, for both new and existing products including customer requirements on prototypes, pilot, and production components.
  4. Develop, implement, and maintain calibration of gauging and test equipment and their utilization strategy for new and existing products to assure continued product conformance to internal and external customer specifications.
  5. Review customer warranty and assembly plant issues to maintain open communications, strengthen customer confidence, and assist the customer with product related concerns.
  6. Develop and continually improve a system audit plan that meets the requirements of our customers, TS16949, and CCC.
  7. All other assignments deemed necessary while under the direction of the Plant Manager.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

  • The Quality Manager position reports to the Plant Manager. The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a TS16949 compliant total quality system to assure the manufacture of high quality components and finished goods at minimal cost.

  • The incumbent’s responsibility is to develop quality processes and procedures which incorporate statistical process control and mistake proofing to prevent the manufacture of non-conforming products while simultaneously utilizing the same concepts to reduce avoidable costs. The incumbent is to ensure that the total quality system is continuously audited throughout the manufacturing cycle to ensure all processes and procedures are performing as specified.

  • The incumbent administers a continuing program of review and analysis to ensure that product quality meets both the customer’s specifications and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards such that our client is protected from vehicle recalls and possible legal litigation.

  • The incumbent is responsible for developing plans and programs and managing the implementation of statistical process control, mistake proofing review, and in-process controls to assure products are manufactured with zero non-conformances. This requires the incumbent to be skilled in statistical analysis methods, process and product knowledge. A strong technical background is necessary, along with leadership and managerial skills required to effectively communicate the utilization of these tools to others throughout the factory.

  • This position requires frequent contact with customer representatives regarding quality surveys, process capabilities, product capabilities, warranty failures, customer line rejects, product applications, quality systems, and other product related issues.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIRED:

BS in engineering or related degree or seven (7) to ten (10) years quality assurance management experience and a minimum of five years of progressively increasing responsibilities in a manufacturing environment. An understanding of general business concepts and company operations is necessary to manage the function and meet objectives. Strong human relations skills are needed to implement the ideas and actions associated with improvement.
