Electrical/I&C Engineer


In support of our client, an international industrial manufacturer of original equipment automotive parts, ResourceTek is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a contract-to-direct hire position located in Middle Tennessee and starting immediately.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Develop manufacturing process plans for the Company’s products by means of evaluating and selecting major equipment, designing dedicated electronic control systems, and fulfilling customer requirements regarding pilot submission samples and various process documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing support for new and existing programs by means of preparing designs, drawings, process documentation, and soliciting quotations for assembly systems and processes. Design and implementation of fully automatic workstation, processing, and automation equipment.
  • Implement repairs and/or improvements on existing processes through modification and redesign of all levels of automation from tooling through complete integrated systems.
  • Work closely with the product-engineering group toward achieving simultaneous engineering of workstations or modification to existing processes and new automation equipment.
  • Work closely with manufacturing areas as assigned to implement continuous projects aimed at reducing cost or improving product quality.
  • Train supervisors and/or mechanics and electricians regarding new or improved processes or equipment.
  • All other assignments deemed necessary while under the direction of the Value stream Manager.
 
   

REQUIRED PPE:

Safety glasses and ear plugs while in production areas.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

  1. This position is a service function to manufacturing and reports to the Value Stream Manager. Though day-to-day supervision is limited, significant aspects of the position are communicated to the manager on need-for-priority basis. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to take initiatives to retain close communication links with other plant departments such as product engineering, quality control, manufacturing and purchasing, in order to perform the assigned tasks.

  2. Initial assignments are made by the Value Stream Manager Manager, but the responsibilities that follow are dependent upon the needs of the project begin supported. The engineer is expected to exercise both spending and timeline control of the project. The initial interface with an outside supplier is the responsibility of this position.

  3. Changes or improvements originate from manufacturing operations, Quality Control, or Product Engineering, and must be integrated into the incumbent’s work load so as to be performed in a timely manner.

  4. The incumbent must be capable of juggling many different responsibilities simultaneously while monitoring the ever-changing priorities. He or she must be sure that all details are given the proper amount of attention when required, not sacrificing one task for that of another.

  5. The incumbent must continually keep abreast of changes in technology that may be useful to the profitability of the company. He/she must be able to implement such systems with a high degree of success.

  1. Perform safety and preventative maintenance analyses on supported equipment.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIRED:

B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree or five (5) years engineering experience and a working knowledge of common types of manufacturing processes and materials. He or she should possess the ability to design systems utilizing electronic sensors and controls.

The ability to interface well with others and work within strict deadlines is essential. The incumbent must be able to work with minimum supervision, well organized, willing to take initiatives, and keep abreast of rapidly changing advances in manufacturing technology. The ability to foster these skills and disciplines downward in the organization by demonstration and sharing is a key principle.

Proficiency in PC based word processing and spreadsheets is required. Proficiency in PLC software design and knowledge of electronic sensors is desired.
