Stormwater Treatment Plant Operator


In support of our client, we are seeing a Stormwater Treatment Facility Operator to join their team in Nashville, TN on a 4 month contract opportunity. This position is slated to begin in November 2019 and has the possibility of going direct for the right candidate.

The Treatment Plant Operator position is responsible for operating, managing, and controlling the daily activities associated with the Wastewater Treatment Facility (WTF). Will be responsible for working with the treatment facility to treat tainted stormwater runoff as well as track the treated water that is discharged via an elimination system.

Responsibilities include

  • Analyze real-time data collected from various measuring devices, including but not limited to flow meters, water quality meters and TOC analyzers to make operational decision in the Wastewater Treatment Facility and to protect the environmental stewardship of the facility.
  • Perform regular (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly) monitoring (on-site and remote) of the WTF and stormwater outfalls.
  • Perform supplemental water sampling, as required, during storm events.
  • Record data and analytical results in the Environmental Management System within 48 hours of their receipt.
  • Provide monitoring data to Environmental Compliance Manager for submittal of monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports as required.
  • Monitor industrial activity and weather forecasts to anticipate flows and concentrations to be received by stormwater piping and collection systems.
  • Operate the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for WTF operation and inspection.
  • Maintain operation of mechanical valves, flow control piping, aerators, return sludge pumping system and other sensitive instrumentation to ensure each is in good working order, and coordinate maintenance when required.
  • Coordinate periodic deliveries of chemicals, lagoon feedstock, and other materials requiring supplementation during the treatment season.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings with Environmental Department personnel.

The ideal candidate will have prior water, wastewater, and/or stormwater sampling monitoring and sampling experience. Must be detailed oriented and be proficient in MS Office. Ability to work onsite at our client’s Nashville facility is required.

Selected candidates must successfully pass and maintain a pass Criminal Record Background Check performed by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department that includes:

  • An identity verification
  • A state of residency checks for the last ten (10) years
  • A National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) record and fingerprint check
