Controls Technician

In support of our client, a tier one automotive supplier located in Northeast Georgia, we are searching for Controls Technicians to join their team and assist with the shutdown of the facility, estimated to be completed in February 2020. This is a long-term contract assignment (12+ months) and includes a generous completion bonus that will be paid out when the plant officially closes in early 2020.

In this role, the selected candidates will provide maintenance and production support of electrical and electronic control systems plantwide. Plant systems include linear and digital control servo hydraulic systems, AC and DC motor drives, process instrumentation, and Allen Bradley PLC control systems.

Controls Technicians Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Will provide support to resolve production issues related to electrical and electronic control systems as well as participate in the preventive and predictive maintenance programs with a focus on maintaining and calibrating electronic systems.

  • Must be able to develop and incorporate procedures to ensure all maintenance and repair efforts are performed in a manner consistent with NEC, OSHA, and TA equipment standards.

  • Assist with document control processes for electrical control systems which will include field verification of existing documentation and make drawing revisions.

  • Work in conjunction with electrical engineers and electricians to make equipment upgrades for safety, quality and productivity improvements.

  • Provide technical support as a member of multi-disciplined, problem solving teams in the facilities and equipment areas.

  • Remain up to date in developments in related systems technology.

Controls Technicians Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in electrical/electronic maintenance.

  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in PLC programming

  • Strong proficiency in CAD required as well as MS Office (Word, Outlook, etc).

  • High school diploma or equivalent required and be able to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • AS Degree in electrical/electronic technology highly preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be safety aware and participate in the company's safety programs.

  • Will participate in the company's quality initiatives including, but not limited to: TS/ISO certification and maintenance of quality systems in place.

  • Ability to climb (stairs, equipment, scaffolding) and/or crawl as needed.

  • Ability to concentrate on control panels, instruments, etc, and react to changes rapidly.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug and background screen.
