IT Specialist/Help Desk Technician


In support of our parent company, we are seeking an IT Specialist/Help Desk Technician to join their Information Technology team located in Nashville, TN. This is a long term, contract position (40 hours per week) and could go direct for the right candidate. In this role, the selected person will be responsible for assisting internal employees with information system support and helpdesk tickets as well as assisting with computer builds, troubleshooting equipment, and software distribution.

Typical duties include:

· Research, resolve, and respond to questions received via telephone calls, emails, voicemails and callbacks

· Creates problem/request tickets within Technical Support Service Center software ensuring that problems and requests are comprehensively described and assigned to the appropriate ITS resource for prompt resolution or fulfillment

· Ensures timely escalation of problems that exceed resolution targets

· Notifies appropriate personnel on critical incidents

· Development and maintenance of process and procedural documentation

· Performing software updates

· Troubleshooting hardware and assisting with computer builds

Minimum Qualifications:

· Must be customer service oriented with strong communication skills and have an energetic/positive demeanor.

· 1 plus year of experience working with IT Customer Support (experience working with the public or end users highly preferred)

· Strong Computer Skills in Microsoft Office applications needed.

· Familiarity with Computer builds, Software distribution, and some troubleshooting required.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Experience in processing forms and other types of information in accordance with established procedures, guidelines and regulations

· Knowledge of IT Service Management best practice framework and standards (i.e. ITIL, ISO 2000, etc.)

· Knowledge of personal computers, networks and voice communications

· Ability to learn new applications quickly

· Ability to communicate customer needs/problems/issues in concise manner to technicians and programming staff

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

· Excellent written & verbal communications skills

· Excellent customer service skills

· Excellent typing and phone skills
