Electrical Engineer


Our client, a large tier 1 automotive supplier, has an immediate job opportunity for an Electrical Controls Engineer at their Aiken, SC plant. This is a full time, direct hire opportunity.

This position is responsible for the design, installation and continuous improvement of assigned machines and controls in order to maximize the safety, quality and operating efficiency of the plant. Strong project management and PLC programming skills are required. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, drives and servos is desired. CAD experience is not required, but engineers are responsible for ensuring that drawings are correct and initiating changes when needed. This position is also responsible for maintenance technical support as needed.

Position responsibilities:

  • Perform control system engineering and design using standardized methods and practices
  • Detailing and design of electrical control panels
  • Design and edit and upgrades to PLC and HMI programs
  • Responsible for small to large capital expenditure project improvements, upgrades, and expansions.
  • Editing and entering programmable operator interface software
  • Perform the startup and debug of control systems of tools and equipment
  • Providing technical support for installation of tools and equipment
  • Must be able to work with a team of engineers, coordinate with contractors, and interface with different departments and vendors.

 

Experience Requirement:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years controls related experience in a process, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
  • “Hands on” design, programming, troubleshooting, debug and installation experience with Allen Bradley PLC's, HMI’s, Motors, Drives, Servos, and Motion Controllers.
  • Expertise in Allen Bradley Controls and some knowledge of other various hardware equipment such as Allen Bradley and SCADA platforms (RSView, WonderWare)
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and projects involving startup and commissioning of control and instrumented systems.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation to configure, calibrate and troubleshoot instrumented systems.
  • Ability to develop and communicate technical information from various sources to implement designs.
  • Exceptionally high degree of self-checking, Quality Control, and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal skills. Advanced mathematical skills.
  • Good organizational/project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information.
