Windows Linux System Administrator

In partnership with our client, the Metro Government of Nashville and Davidsion County, we have an immediate need for a Windows / Linux System Administrator for a long term assignment.  This position performs technical and professional duties involved in the installation, support and management of Microsoft and Red Hat Server Operating Systems. Part of this role also includes support for the hardware associated with these servers.

  • Build, configure, deploy and support Intel based server platform using Microsoft technology including Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Build, Configure, deploy and support Red Hat v5, v6, v7
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server hardware and Operating System issues and make recommendations for corrective action
  • Maintaining security standards leveraging our patch management system, Anti-Virus and other tools as needed
  • Assist in developing and maintaining processes and procedure documentation for your supportable area
  • Provide customer support for data backup and recovery procedures and or methodologies
  • Document and maintain Disaster Recovery Plans
  • Meet with customers to determine their needs and provide technical and non-technical information in a presentation format as needed

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA’s)

  • 3-5 Years of Microsoft Operating System experience
  • 1-3 years of Linux Operating System experience (preferably Red Hat)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of data preservation/backup methods
  • Knowledge of basic VMware and SAN concepts relating to server support
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in interpreting and applying procedures to specific cases
  • Ability to deal with management, vendors, and others effectively in situations requiring tact and discretion while working through difficult issues
  • Ability to analyze complex information and solve difficult problems
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in interpreting and applying procedures to specific cases

Licenses/Certifications Required:

  • Valid “Class D”: driver’s license
