Production Melt Manager


In support of our client, a large steel manufacturer, ResourceTek is seeking a Production Melt Manager to join their team in Reading, PA. The right candidate will directly supervise 2-10 Manufacturing Supervisors and indirectly supervise 50-250 hourly production employees. This is a direct hire opportunity.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Manage the activities of a Production department, consisting of more than one sub-team, with consideration for the goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Develops goals and objectives for the department that are aligned with those of the larger manufacturing organization.
  • Develop, define, and lead the implementation of plans, actions, and measurements to meet department goals.
  • Measure and evaluate execution of the plans and make appropriate adjustments to meet the aligned goals and objectives.
  • Maintain knowledge of the existing manufacturing systems including the computer systems, steel making processes, material flow and handling schemes, quality systems, and process control techniques.
  • Evaluate and recommend new equipment, and process and maintenance technologies.
  • Define and communicate performance expectations for staff and coach and counsel them in the performance of job responsibilities.
  • Develop and manage departmental budget.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-year college degree or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by department management.
  • Two or more years' experience at a lower level manager position or Manufacturing Engineer position.
  • Direct specialty metals melting experience and demonstrated hands-on knowledge and understanding of vacuum induced melting (VIM) and Arc (electrical) melting technology preferred; however, candidates with traditional steel-making experience and other related heavy/intense industries will be considered.
  • Applies business and management expertise to achieve financial and operational objectives within or across departments.
  • Develops departmental plans including business, production and/or organizational priorities.
  • Knowledge of the existing manufacturing systems including the computer systems, steel making processes, material flow and handling schemes, quality systems, and process control techniques.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to direct and supervise others, objectively evaluate performance, and train and develop others.
  • Problem solving and project management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and influence others.
