Injection Molding Engineer


In support of our client, a supplier of automotive parts and accessories, we are seeing an Injection Molding Engineer to join their Manufacturing team near Dalton, GA. This is a direct hire, permanent opportunity.

In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for the development of manufacturing methods and processes within the company’s injection molding department for new and existing project lines, specific Resin based items. Products produced include items such as automotive splash guards, under protectors, kick plates and roof racks.

The selected Injection Molding Engineer will be responsible for investigating, establishing, and implementing improvements for equipment, tooling, materials, and methods of manufacturing, from pilot runs through normal production. Will analyzed production steps to establish sequence of operations to allow the most efficient, effective method of manufacture. Will also perform cost reduction studies, in addition to analyzing and correcting production problems.

Ideal candidates will have the following experience in the following Key areas:

•Resin Molding - understanding of Resin Molding including manufacturing prototypes, launching process, understanding Resin injection molding machines and tooling specs, and materials.

  • •Automotive Interior Parts - Planning of the process, modifying and installing tool and dies, improvement of the quality on the process and material costs.

  • Material Selection - Experience in changing materials and selecting new materials.

  • Responsibilities :

  • Hands-on process/tooling troubleshooting

  • Stabilize and optimize molding area performance and reduce mold change overtime

  • Train and coach injection mold technicians on the latest problem solving, set-up and processing techniques

  • Analyze process failures for root cause and recommend corrective actions

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and productivity covering all process areas-cycle times, scrap, downtime, machine/tools and energy

  • Recommend equipment to better automate manufacturing processes

  • Work with engineering on new project start-ups with transition into production

  • Quality check/follow up on Products developed in Japan (parent company), specifically resin/electrical car parts/accessories such as bumpers, radiator grills, LED kick plates, etc.

    Qualifications:

    •Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline highly desired but not required.

    •5+ years experience with injection molding manufacturing including knowledge of Injection Molding tool and die specs, structures, and manufacturing processes

    •Familiarity with new product development and the ability to evaluate product quality and outcome.

    •Understanding the overview of testing and evaluating Resin performance guarantee.

    •Experience in the automotive industry is a major plus.

    •Previous experience with Fanuc Robomachines and/or Star Pneumatic Servo Hybrid Robots highly desired.

    •Ability to communicate and collaborate with others in self-directed work teams to achieve results/goals.
